Little Sheep Mongolian Hot is becoming one of our latest favorite local restaurants. They do have over 20 locations in the US and many others in Canada, Japan, and China so we can get our hot pot fix while traveling too.
If you are new to hot pot, the process is pretty simple. You choose your soup base. In our case, we chose the half spicy and half non spicy base. The spicy half is pretty spicy but you will eventually adapt. The soup has onions, garlic, chilis, and spices.
Next you choose the ingredients that you can put into the hot pot. Little Sheep provides a menu that you can pick from including meats, veggies, and noodles. You can choose a full or half order. You can get to try more stuff if you choose half orders as they do give you a lot of food.
There’s a little stove top heater at each table. The hot pot is placed on the stove top. At this point, you can start putting the ingredients in and enjoy.
Everything is pretty fresh. On this trip we ordered some ribeye, fish filet, squid, shrimp, sweet corn, taro, mushroom, rice noodles, and potato noodles.
You can ask for extra hot sauce and some dipping sauce.
